Volunteer Reflections: David Moretz | Selva in Action - April 2016
Deep in the Peruvian Amazon, situated on the banks of the Rio Momon, lies the village community of Centro Fuerte. It is a typical village for the area and is home to about 30 families. Daily life here is hard, as the village and surrounding communities lack many of the conveniences and services that are often taken for granted. This deep in the jungle, medical care is lacking, as there are no doctors. In 2007, the Selva in Action mission was founded with the goal of helping the people of the Rio Momon. This past April, David Moretz joined the mission as a volunteer and photographer. He documented the efforts of the mission and his experience in the Amazonian community of Centro Fuerte in this video essay.
